EXCLUSIVE: As far as co-stars go, actor Frank Dillane said he was paired with “an icon” in the hot new crime drama Joan.
That ‘icon’ is Emmy Award nominee and Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner.
The brand new series Joan is streaming now only on Stan.
The pair lead the brand new British series Joan – streaming now on Stan – based on the real life of notorious jewel thief Joan Hannington.
“She’s an amazing actress, a mother and an icon in her own right,’ Dillane, 33, told 9Entertainment. “I mean, she’s one of the greatest actresses I think of this generation.”

Turner, 28, portrays Joan, a fiercely devoted mother trapped in a disastrous marriage.
While Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) plays Boisie, a charming antiques dealer turned lover who introduces Joan to the dazzling criminal underworld.
Speaking to 9Entertainment, Dillane admitted he was inspired by Turner.

“Sophie is very easy to work with, so she was very easy to love on screen,” Dillane gushed about his co-star.
“We had these quite big romantic scenes,” he divulged. “This kind of ‘Bonnie and Clyde’, or ‘ride and die’ love that extends beyond the law.”
“I took great inspiration from watching her, how she goes about things, how she is on set. I feel really blessed to call her my friend.”
But Sophie Turner wasn’t his only inspiration while filming the highly-anticipated drama.
In fact, fans can look forward to a special cameo, Dillane revealed, in the scene where Joan meets Boise for the very first time.
The bartender in the scene was played by Joan’s real-life son Benny.
“That was lovely to have Benny there,” Dillane smiled. “I mean, to have the whole family involved – the real Joan involved and invested, that was great.”
EXCLUSIVE: From star Harold Perrineau on the terrifying scene that will leave fans petrified as the epic horror returns for Season 3
“Joan is a real woman and her story is so extraordinary,” he continued. “And if you like that style of cinema – British gangsters, diamonds, heists – I think it’s a lot of fun.”
While fans would recognise Sophie Turner from her breakout role in Game of Thrones, Dillane too had a breakout role – in the Harry Potter franchise.
“Soph and I didn’t get too much into Harry Potter and Game of Thrones,” he said of their time on set. “But I knew she was brilliant in it.”
Dillane also opened up about playing a young Tom Riddle (a.k.a Lord Voldemort) in the sixth movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009).
“I remember being very happy to have got the part,” Dillane looked back fondly. “I mean, Harry Potter was such a big deal back then, to play young Voldemort was just something I was very excited about and proud to do.
“It was my first acting job, the first time I ever auditioned for anything so it was a big surprise.”
With news of a Harry Potter TV reboot being made, Dillane had one thing to say.
“I’m intrigued to see what they do with it,” he responded. “I wonder if they will expand on anything that films didn’t already do or whether they will tell any stories that are not in the books.”

And would he ever reprise his role as a younger Voldemort?
“Maybe. If I get asked I would consider it,” he laughed.
For now fans can catch him in the brand new series Joan, streaming only on Stan.
